YBB One Day Design Boot Camp

Last weekend YouthBuild Boston Designery and BosNOMA (Boston Chapter of NOMA) had the incredible privilege of hosting our inaugural one day architecture workshop for high school students.

We welcomed 17 students and 13 mentors to Massachusetts College of Art and Design and had them explore an architectural prompt titled, A Pavillion: For Amplifying voices. Each group received a kit of parts as a framework and were tasked to design a Pavillion for a cause or group they are passionate about in the city of Boston.

We were all inspired by the aspiring designers and their thoughtful interventions. It is imperative that we continue to provide young adults of color exposure to a field that lacks diversity and give them AGENCY to use architecture to impact their neighborhoods.

Thank you to all the amazing students, mentors, BosNoma for being an incredible partner, MassArt for hosting us and a huge shoutout to the fabrication team both at YBB and Payette!

Let’s continue to be the change we want to see in this city and this profession we love.
