YBB Stage 2

A 10-12 week (384 hours) module for young individuals with high school credentials, whether from YBB’s Stage 1, traditional K-12, or other programs. In Stage 2, students continue learning carpentry skills while building affordable housing and contributing to community projects. Graduates earn a Pre-Apprentice Certificate from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Apprenticeship Standards and industry-recognized certifications, including OSHA-10, First Aid/CPR/Stop the Bleed, and Fall Safety to boost employability. Participants learn job search skills like resume writing, interviewing, and networking. Students tour union training centers, visit live construction sites, and participate in on-the-job training. After completing Stage 2, YBB assists graduates in finding meaningful industry jobs, including Registered Apprenticeship Programs.

Who Is it for?

Stage 2 is designed for young adults (18-24) who have earned a high school credential (diploma or HiSET/GED). This program is for those looking to earn a carpentry pre-apprenticeship certificate and a solid foundation in the building trades.

What IS involveD?

Participants develop advanced carpentry skills and work on affordable housing and community-based projects. They also gain exposure to plumbing, electrical work, masonry, and sheet metal.

What is expected?

Participants must engage actively in all training sessions, develop their carpentry and construction skills, and complete certification requirements. They should be ready to enhance their job readiness through resume building, interview preparation, and networking activities.

What do you GAIN?

Participants earn a Pre-Apprentice Certificate, and industry-recognized certifications. YBB supports graduates in securing industry jobs or entering Registered Apprenticeship Programs to start their construction careers.
